Task: Write a poem in the shape of a diamond. The poem is going to describe you.
1. Prewrite
Follow Instructions # 1 - 7 (Textbook page 13)
2. Draft
Use the information in the prewrite to write your poem in the shape of a diamond.
3. Revise
Check the following:
Does the poem include all the information from the Prewrite section?
Did you use the correct forms of the adjectives and verbs?
Is there anything you should add or change?
4. Publish
Put your poem on an 8 1/2" x 11" sheet of paper or poster board. Decorate the
sheet with photos, drawings, and other items that are descriptive of you.
5. Memorize
Memorize your lines to recite the poem to the class

Task: You are an exchange student in Mexico. Your host family wants to know about special events in which you participate in your community. Show them photos of a typical event you or your friends might attend.
1. Prepare
Bring a photo from home or a picture from a magazine of a special event that high school students might attend. Think about the process of getting ready for this event.
Answer the following questions for yourself or for others.
¿Qué tipo de evento es?
¿Qué haces para prepararte?
¿Cómo estas? ¿Entusiasmado? ¿Nervioso? ¿Contento?
2. Practice
Go through your presentation several times.
- Provide as much information as you can
- Use complete sentences
- Speak clearly
3. Present
Show your photo and give the information about the event.
4. Evaluation
Your teacher will give you a rubric for how the presentation will be graded.
You will be graded on:
